Guinea

Guinea is a country with a rich cultural heritage and a varierty of preciuos mineral resources. However, 65% of the adults in the country have had no education, and the average life expectancy is no more than 60 years. The westafrican country is thus ranked 183 out of 188 in the Human Development Index as of 2015.
As reported by the World Health Organization (WHO), 3,800 people died following the outbreak of the Ebola virus in 2013.

The epidemic badly affected an already weak healthcare system which has, since then, been in a dire state. There is a lack of trained professionals and the necessary medical equipment for emergency interventions in the event of an epidemic. The focus on fighting Ebola led to the neglect of other diseases. As a result, there was a rapid spread of tuberculosis and leprosy.
