In the Beqaa Valley, one of the most vulnerable regions of Lebanon, the population is widely lacking access to healthcare services in clinics. In cooperation with the Lebanese Association of the Order of Malta, Malteser International is currently rehabilitating the emergency department of one local clinic, thereby improving the supply of patients with the needed medicine and medical supplies for the clinic. Furthermore, chronically ill patients and people with disabilities are being supported, as medical home visits will be provided for them in the near future in order to make their lives easier. The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Additionally, the funding of Malteser International’s mobile clinic located in the northern part of Lebanon is confirmed by the German Foreign Office (AA) for one additional year. The clinic’s staff treat both the Lebanese population and Syrian refugees.
