Many candles. One light. Let your actions shine bright!

We live in a world overshadowed by darkness. Millions of people are facing conflict, displacement, climate-related disasters, and poverty. But even the smallest act of compassion can shine brightly in the darkness.

This Christmas, our message is simple: Many candles. One light. Each gesture, each donation, each prayer, each word of kindness is a candle lit against despair. And when these candles come together, they form one powerful light of hope and solidarity.

Your candle matters, too. With your support, we become a shared light in the world’s darkest places.

Light your candle of hope: Support people in need with your donation!

Every action shines brightly. This is what you can do now!

What difference can I make? Sometimes we feel powerless in the face of the major crises in the world. But we must not forget: we all have influence. Our actions make a difference. That's why we've put together a list of things you can do today.

1. Donate

Even a small donation can change lives. Support humanitarian organizations bringing relief where it’s needed most. Looking for a meaningful gift? Choose a donation certificate and make kindness your present.

3. Speak up & raise awareness

Your voice matters. Share posts and stories that inspire compassion and solidarity. Talk to friends and family about humanitarian issues.

Every conversation can spark action.

4. Volunteer locally

Change starts close to home. Offer your time at local Order of Malta groups, your church, or community organizations. Small acts of service create big waves of kindness.

Be the candle that lights up your neighborhood.

5. Inspire others

Encourage those around you to join in and make a difference. Share your story of giving, celebrate the impact of small actions and invite others to join you, for example through a fundraiser.

Pass your light on to others.

Start your own fundraiser

6. Be present and kind

Kindness is simple, yet it has a big impact. Smile at someone, listen with care, or send a message to someone who might feel alone. Give a warm meal or a helping hand to someone in need.

Small gestures help brighten someone’s life.

Our gift: A Christmas light for you!

Download Christmas light template

You will need the following materials: a color printer, glue stick, scissors, a pricking needle (alternatively, a normal needle and a little more patience), a thick piece of cardboard or a pricking mat, a tea light in a glass or an LED tea light.

Step by step to your Christmas light:

  • Download the template, choose your favorite motif, and print it out in color (100% / original size).
  • Carefully cut out the template.
  • Place the cut-out motif on the thick cardboard or pricking mat.
  • Use the pricking needle to make small holes along the contours of the Maltese cross and at the tips and inner corners of the yellow stars. Depending on the motif you have chosen, you can also decorate the tips and centers of the snowflakes and, if desired, along the lettering.
  • Make sure not to place the holes too close together (distance: 1–2 mm).
  • Apply glue to the left side and form the motif into a circle by gluing the ends together.
  • Place your tea light in a suitable glass and place the paper lamp around it.
  • Enjoy the atmospheric light! And please never leave open flames unattended!
